Résumé des tomes

Tome 1 : Larry B. Max is an unusual specialist from a little-known branch of the I.R.S. (Internal Revenue Service), the all-powerful tax-collecting agency of the United States. Reading into tax-evasion and money-laundering rings the way a virtuoso pianist would read a sheet of Mozart, Max has every technological method at his disposal to find links between high finance and high crime. In the first album, he must look into a particularly delicate file belonging to a rich Jewish-American, known for his involvement in recovering items that were confiscated by the Nazis. Dissecting this billionaire’s accounts, Max embarks on a dangerous journey to find the mysterious origins of the man’s immense fortune…. This two-volume book includes “The Hagen Strategy.”

Tome 2 : Larry B. Max is an unusual specialist from a little-known branch of the I.R.S. (Internal Revenue Service), the all-powerful tax-collecting agency of the United States, which has every technological method at his disposal to link high finance and high crime. Max unravels the financial and logistical organisations which supports a huge drugs operation between Mexico and the US. In the process, though, the lines between legality and providing jobs for thousands of people, between prosperity and morals become blurred. This two-volume book includes “Narcocracy.”

Tome 3 : Spirou and Fantasio are hired by a doctor to escort some of his patients. Their ailment? An apparently incurable case of the hiccups. His solution: Send them on the most insane adventure ever and scare the hiccups out of them! Since he offers to pay for their expedition, the two fearless reporters agree to take the patients with them as they attempt to locate two explorers lost in 1938 near the Nepalese border… in the middle of a war!

Tome 4 : Spirou and Fantasio, swallowed by the raging waters of the river, find themselves in an unknown valley filled with very peculiar, and very dangerous, life. As they brace themselves to face a hostile nature long enough to find their way out, Fantasio contracts a deadly disease that turns him into a homicidal maniac. Spirou must now find a way to save him and himself and escape the deserted valley. If it really is deserted, that is...

Tome 5 : The Marsupilami, a mysterious animal that Spirou and Fantasio discovered in the jungle of Palombia, now resides in their local zoo. When he seems to drop dead suddenly, the reporters storm into the park demanding explanations. Much to everyone’s surprise, though, the body has disappeared stolen! The two adventurers lose the thief after a night-time chase, but they will not abandon their friend, no matter where their loyalty may take them!

Tome 6 : Spirou and Fantasio, during a daring night investigation, encounter a wounded man who is running from mysterious men. He claims they bombed an automobile factory to steal the plans of a highly advanced prototype, and that he took half of the plans and ran. Having sworn to take the documents back to their owner – who has the other half – the two adventurers are soon on their way to Africa. But of course, the bandits are in hot pursuit…

Tome 7 : After the Marsupilami causes a series of disasters, Spirou and Fantasio finally resolve to bring the strange animal back to its birth place, Palombia. Unfortunately, it’s a nation in turmoil they find upon their arrival. The military is all-powerful, rumours of impending war are growing and a ruthless tyrant has seized power. To counter the dictator’s plans, the two adventurers’ only weapon is the Count of Champignac’s latest outrageous invention: a mushroom extract that makes metals go soft…

Tome 8 : A meaningless little spat is keeping Spirou and Fantasio apart that day, when the young bellboy sees his friend in the company of a mysterious neighbour. Shortly afterward, a jewellery shop is robbed, and the owner identifies Fantasio, who has come to cover the event for his newspaper, as his aggressor. When the very next day a priceless Egyptian mask is stolen live on TV by ... Fantasio, Spirou is left with little choice but to investigate…

Tome 13 : A hairdryer sent by an unknown party temporarily turns Fantasio into a docile automaton. Coming to in a car that appears to be driving itself, he hears the voice of his abductor, who introduces himself as Zorglub. When an accident allows Fantasio to escape, the mysterious kidnapper tries again with Spirou. In fact, the abductions’ only purpose is to send the Count of Champignac a message – he and Zorglub are old acquaintances. But what is the enigmatic genius planning?

Tome 14 : Spirou and Fantasio are spending a few days at Champignac Castle, keeping an eye on the estate while the Count is away visiting family. One night, as they are preparing to watch a comet pass in the sky, Fantasio’s clumsiness causes them to lose consciousness. They awaken to the very noisy arrival of de Champignac aboard one of his strange machines – except that the old man claims to be not the Count himself, but one of his descendants ... back from the future!

Tome 33 : Fantasio, chasing a scoop, slips through a cordon sanitaire surrounding a cargo ship fresh from Antarctica. He’s hoping to investigate some disturbing rumours about the base where the ship comes from. But a seriously ill man has escaped the quarantine and begs for assistance. The Count of Champignac can help, but only if he has access to a very rare toxin – one that is stored, for example, in that mysterious ice base, where more patients await...

Tome 42 : Spirou and Fantasio, in transit through Paris airport, are kidnapped by French counter-intelligence: in exchange for the release of two French nationals from Soviet prisons, the KGB demanded the two reporters’ assistance. Because Moscow has a problem: the mob is getting increasingly powerful and bold, and it has infiltrated the authorities so thoroughly they can’t fight back anymore. They do know, however, that the big boss is someone Spirou and Fantasio have met before and simply cannot ignore…

Tome 43 : An old seaplane skims the waves over the Pacific. Onboard are Vito Cortizone, former Don of the New York Mafia forced into early retirement by Spirou and Fantasio; Von Schnabbel, unscrupulous pilot; and a mysterious cargo supposed to turn Cortizone’s fortunes around. But the mafioso is cursed with terrible luck, and the plane ends up at the bottom of an isolated island’s lagoon. When two months later a sailing boat arrives, an unrecognisable Vito sees none other than our two adventurer-reporters come ashore!
